Marissa Fuentes is an associate attorney at the firm, focusing on land use and environmental law, handling all phases of the land use entitlement and permitting processes, including administrative approvals and litigation. Her practice includes the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the State Planning and Zoning law, and other land use environmental statutes.
Marissa received her Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Davis, King Hall School of Law in 2020, with certificates in environmental law and public service law. During law school, Marissa served as an Executive Editor for the Environmental Law Review Journal, Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Society and engaged in research projects related to California Housing Law and related land use issues. Marissa’s paper, Rising Sea Levels Will Become California’s Greatest Land Use Challenge, won the 2020 King Hall Environmental Law Writing Award. During law school, Marissa worked as a law clerk for Taylor and Wiley and served as an intern for the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR).
Marissa received her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Legal Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 2017, graduating cum laude and with honors in the major. During this time, Marissa interned for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C.
Outside of work, Marissa enjoys exploring her neighborhood of East Sacramento, traveling, indoor spin classes, and rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
