Ms. Wheatley joined Taylor & Wiley in 2002, where she counsels clients regarding various environmental laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA), with an emphasis on wetland regulation and endangered species issues. Her experience in those areas includes advising clients with respect to legal compliance, participating in consultations with the relevant agencies, securing any required permits, and negotiating settlements of civil prosecutions. Additionally, Ms. Wheatley participates in the firm's land use practice, working with local jurisdictions to secure entitlements for various projects throughout the region and assisting with various litigation matters, including the drafting of briefs and other legal memoranda.
